The happs

I’ve been taking a break for a family situation but have tried to remain somewhat active on the literary scene. Plus, previous work has carried through; I find that if I work hard when I can, then it carries me through the times that I can’t.

I was very excited to teach an intensive at the Alaska Writer’s Conference. I gave my Prose to Poetry workshop. I wasn’t able to attend the full conference, but am looking forward to attending next year.

Soon, my poem “The List” will be reappearing in the anthology “Our Best War Stories,” and in 2026, my poem “Control the Food, Control the War,” will be appearing in an anthology of poetry about hunger.

I’m in the middle of teaching a course for Armed Services Arts Partnership, “6 Weeks of Poetry.” I also whipped up “How We Say it: A Poetry Workshop” for ASAP when a poetry instructor fell ill, and delivered that once with another coming soon.

For the month of November, my photograph “Searching for Grandpa” will be in the Veterans Show at the Delaplaine Arts Center in Frederick, which is kinda exciting. And in December, my friend and fellow poet Elayne will be visiting, which is VERY exciting!

On a personal note, winter is coming to Alaska, but recently I had absolutely stunning views of Denali and spent a day chasing them up through Denali State Park. Just amazing. I love Alaska so much!!
