Here are the pitches for my polished PB manuscripts:
NO MORE SLOBBER! is a story about a little girl and her very slobbery mastiff, Nellie. When the girl is unsuccessful in her daily attempts to get Nellie’s drool under control, she kicks Nellie out of her room. After realizing that she misses Nellie—slobber and all—the girl figures out how to embrace the drool and stop trying to change who Nellie is. It’s Hector and Hummingbird meets Walter the Farting Dog, but with slobber.
NANCY HAS NEVER SEEN SNOW is a subtle concept book in which an opossum and her human girl are waiting up for their first snowfall, reminiscing about the weather that they have “hung out” in. Along with the concept of weather, it is a story of friendship. There is a poetic quality to the flow of this story.
THE TIME TUCKER SNUCK INTO SCHOOL is a picture book manuscript targeting rising kindergartners. Dot is nervous about starting school, and her faithful pup Tucker is worried that Dot won’t be able to make it through her first day of kindergarten without him. Tucker sneaks into school to be there for Dot. When he sees that Dot can handle school on her own, Tucker begins to worry that Dot no longer needs him in her life. In the end, Tucker sees where he DOES fit in.
