DESCRIPTION:I will be introducing Lakita Wilson\, who will present on “Social Media’s Role in Your Book Journey.” \nSocial Media is an essential element for marketing your book and should be developed as soon as you begin writing your book. In each stage of the book writing and production process\, you should spend equal amounts of time developing your online presence and creating an audience. In this presentation\, you will learn how to create content that will draw readers to your page\, which hashtags you should use to effectively reach a wider audience of readers\, and strategies for engaging your followers and keeping them interested in you as a brand. \nLakita Wilson is an African-American writer and advocate for diverse and inclusive children’s literature. A 2017 recipient of the On-the-Verge Emerging Voices Award for her manuscript\, Books Like Me\, Lakita is currently working on her MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults at Vermont College of Fine Arts and continues to use her Instagram platform\, @thesweetpeagirls to promote the works of marginalized writers and illustrators. Lakita’s children biography People You Should Know: Michelle Obama will be released through Capstone Fall 2019. Her children’s biographies Important People: Rosa Parks and Important People Thurgood Marshall will be released through Capstone Spring 2020.
